Women, children slaughtered as fresh attacks claim 12 lives in Kaduna

Fresh attacks in Zangang Chiefdom in Kaura local government area of Kaduna state have claimed 12 lives, including women and children.

The incident followed a rampage by gunmen on Monday night.

The Council Chairman, Kumai Badu, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in a telephone interview.

He said that 12 persons had so far been confirmed dead while several others got varying degrees of injury.

According to the chairman, several houses and property were also destroyed in the attacks.

He added that although calm was restored to the area by the military, the people had yet to recover from the shock of the attacks.

NAN further gathered that four persons were apprehended by the military in connection with the attacks.

NAN recalls that similar attacks were carried out in the area in mid April which claimed  several lives and property.

10,000 Persons Displaced In Kaduna Gunmen Attack

The displaced  people of Fadan Attakar community in Kaura local government area of Kaduna State  have appealed to the Kaduna State government to help them  get over the shock from last Saturday’s attack on the village by unknown gunmen.

The attack has displaced about 10,000 indigenes of the community who are scared of going back to their homes.

The paramount ruler of the community condemned the attack saying members of the community have lived peacefully with their neighbours over the years.

With their houses completely razed down, the villagers have become refugees in their own land.
