DUTCH REFEREE KILLED


NETHERLANDS- A Dutch man, who worked as a linesman during his son’s youth football game has died after an assault on him by several angry players.
The man, Richard Nieuwenhuizen was beaten and kicked by young footballer from Amsterdam club Nieuw sloten after an away match at Bultenboys Almere on Sunday. The 41 year old collapsed and was taken to the hospital several hours after the incident. His death was announced on Monday evening.
In a related development, three Nieuw Sloten players, between 15 and 16 years old have been arrested in connection to the incident with more arrests not yet ruled out by the police.
Richard was refereeing a match in which one of his sons was participating in which is a normal practice in the Netherlands. From reports, he did that every week and was a real football man. Meanwhile, Nieuw Sloten has withdrawn their team from the league according to a statement on their website.
