Duke Edward |
Britain’s Duke of Kent, Queen Elizabeth II’s cousin has been hospitalised after suffering a mild stroke, Buckingham Palace said Thursday.
“He was taken ill in the early hours of Monday and admitted to hospital for assessment,” said the palace statement.
Medical staff “diagnosed him as having had a mild stroke”, he added.
It was reported that the duke was still being treated in the undisclosed hospital.
“My understanding is he’s feeling well and looking forward to resuming official engagements as soon as possible,” said the spokesman.
He is best known for being President of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, presenting the Wimbledon trophies each summer.
The duke, also known as Prince Edward, is also the president of the Stroke Association.
