Intriguing: Sleepy workers stop for a nap on busy highway in China as traffic zooms past

Of all the spots to choose for a mid-afternoon nap, the middle of a lane on a busy highway is hardly ideal.But it clearly appealed to these sleepy labourers in China, who downed tools and lay flat out on the tarmac in Chongqing yesterday.

A photographer captured traffic zooming past the prone figures of the six snoozing workers yesterday in the city in south west China.

While safety does not appear to be high on these men's priority list, they did use their vehicle to block the lane in front of them in a bid to avoid being hit by oncoming cars as they slept.Perhaps the heat got to the men, who had been working nearby in Chongqing, where temperatures soared above 35C this week.
