Successful surgery leaves patient with watermelon-sized scrotum 132lbs lighter

A Las Vegas man is 132lbs lighter after undergoing surgery to remove a severely enlarged scrotum.

Wesley Warren Jr. drew international attention last year for the mass that made his day-to-day life a nightmare.

But he is now recovering after a team of surgeons in California spent nearly 13 hours operating on the 48-year-old for free.

'There are a lot of shows about makeovers, but this is a real makeover,' Dr. Joel Gelman, who heads the Center for Reconstructive Urology at the University of California, Irvine, said of the procedure.

'He's basically a new man.'

Owner of 2 pound joint (marijuana) threatens to sue the police for confiscation

Thousands of students at the University of California - Santa Cruz gather on campus on April 20 every year to celebrate '4-20' by lighting up marijuana at 4.20pm. One student went farther than most on Saturday when he unveiled a massive two-pound joint.

In most states, possession of that much marijuana would be a felony punishable by several years in prison. In California, anyone with a prescription can legally possess up to an ounce of the drug. So, instead of arresting the owner, campus police officers simply confiscated it.

'We're going to court, man. We're totally going to court.' 

The two-pound joint is possibly worth $5,000 to $6,000.

Horror: Beggar sets man ablaze over refusal to give him money

A man was set on fire inside his SUV in Long Beach , USA last night after reportedly refusing to give a beggar any money. 

Police say a homeless man set the 63-year-old California man on fire outside a 7-Eleven store by throwing a flammable substance inside the man's parked SUV.

The unidentified victim is said to have walked past the pathfinder as he requested money, according to ABC

As he got in the car, the man threw a flammable liquid into the vehicle and set it alight.

Long Beach Sgt. Aaron Eaton says the man suffered severe burns in the Friday evening attack.

Bystanders helped douse the flames and 38-year-old Raymond Sean Clark was arrested a block away.

Technology: U.S Navy to launch laser weapon that would destroy enemies on its own

The U.S. Navy is set to field a powerful laser that can protect its ships by blasting targets with high-intensity light beams.

Early next year the Navy will place a laser weapon aboard a ship in the Persian Gulf where it could be used to fend off approaching unmanned aerial vehicles or speedboats.

The Navy calls its futuristic weapon LAWS, which stands for the Laser Weapon System. What looks like a small telescope is actually a weapon that can track a moving target and fire a steady laser beam strong enough to burn a hole through steel.

A Navy video of testing conducted last summer off the coast of California shows how a laser beam fired from a Navy destroyer was able to set aflame an approaching UAV or drone, sending it crashing into the ocean.

"There was not a single miss" during the testing, said Rear Admiral Matthew Klunder, chief of Naval Research. The laser was three for three in bringing down an approaching unmanned aerial vehicle and 12 for 12 when previous tests are factored in.
