Corpse of 78-year-old woman missing since 2003 found in son’s cupboard

The police in Imo have arrested one Chimezie Osuigwe, a retired vice-principal, for the alleged murder of his 78-year-old mother in 2003.

Osuigwe was arrested after the embalmed body of the septuagenarian was discovered in a cupboard at his house by a family member.According to Mr Musa Katsina, the Commissioner of Police in Imo, the woman, Mrs Lucy Osuigwe, was declared missing since 2003.

Katsina told newsmen at the house in Ejemekuru in Oguta Local Government Area on Monday that the embalmed body had been kept in that condition since 2003.“The corpse of Mrs Lucy Osuigwe, who was declared missing in 2003 was found in a large cupboard inside a shrine in a private room in a circumstance depicting ritual practice.

“The embalmed body, which was kept in that condition for about 10 years is believed to have been placed in the wardrobe by her son, Dr Chimezie Osuigwe, a devotee of the Guru Maharaji Sect.“Preliminary assessment of the scene of crime revealed that the woman must have been murdered by the son for ritual purposes,” he said.

Imo State Governor Okorocha Resumes, Donates N200, 000 To Accident Victim


The Imo state Governor Rochas Okorocha has resumed his normal official duties after a 2 week medical treatment in London.
The governor sustained a minor head injury when his convoy was involved in a motor accident during a project inspection 2 weeks ago in Orlu Local Government area of Imo state.
While briefing Government House Correspondents in Owerri, the state capital, the Governor said he embarked on the medical treatment abroad as quick as possible because of the internal head injury sustained during the course of the accident.
He however said he has “resumed work as usual and now healthy since doctors have certified that he can resume work as soon as possible”.
Meanwhile, the Governor said he has forgiven the owner of the Benz 200 that rammed into his convoy and donated the sum of N200, 000 to the offender to enable him fix his vehicle.
Governor Okorocha however thanked Nigerians, the Nigerian Media and the People of Imo state for their continuous prayer and support in his absence.

Nigeria:Imo state Governor, Okorocha sustains head injury in road accident


The convoy of the Governor of Imo State; Mr Rochas Okorocha has been involved in a head-on collision in Orlu local government area of the state and the governor sustained minor head injuries.
The Governor was on a scheduled inspection tour to some state projects in the area when the accident occurred.
A statement signed by the media aide to the Governor; Ebere Ozoukwa, stated that the Governor’s convoy was involved in the accident in Orlu town in Orlu Local government area of the state.
According to Mr Ozoukwa, “the governor sustained a minor injury which is a minor cut on his head but he is presently in a good and stable condition and has been attended to by medical personnel.”
The Governor can be seen in the picture with a bandage rolled all over his head with some blood stains.
The statement advised the general public especially Imo citizens not to “panic and should go about with their normal duties since the Governor is in a good and stable condition and responding to necessary treatment.”

Breaking: Imo Deputy Governor Impeached

Barely hours after the High Court dismissed the suit by the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Mr. Jude Agbaso, asking it to stop his impeachment by the state Assembly, the embattled deputy governor has been removed from office.

Twenty-five out of the 26 members of the Imo State House of Assembly approved the impeachment.His impeachment is coming after a prolonged battle over the allegation that he demanded the sum of N417 million from a contractor in the state. Mr. Agbaso has consistently denied the allegation.

Mr. Agbaso had earlier approached the court praying it to restrain the state lawmakers from proceeding with the impeachment process which began three weeks ago.He also prayed the court to restrain the Nigerian Police from harassing him or acting upon the recommendations of the House of Assembly against him
