10 people lose their lives in Bauchi accident


Ten  persons have lost their lives  while eight others sustained injuries in a road  accident that occurred along Bauchi-Gombe Federal Highway near Alkaleri town, headquarters of Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Briefing newsmen over the incident yesterday in Bauchi, acting Sector Commandant of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mahmud Kachalla said the accident occurred in the afternoon in between Tsohuwar Gwaram village  and Alkaleri town in  the state.   Kachalla said it involved 18 people and two cars- Volkswagen Golf car, Honda and motorcycle.
He said among the victims were five female adults, three male adults,  a boy and a girl while those injured  include five male adults, a female adult and two boys. He said the cause of the accident was over-speeding and over-loading. “Inside  the Gulf car  were 14 people who came from a condolence visit in Jigawa State  and were on their way to Alkaleri  when the vehicle  had a head on collision,
The Commandant said  the FRSC personnel stationed in Alkaleri  rushed to the scene of the accident  and took  the injured people to Alkaleri General Hospital for medical treatment. Kachalla advised motorists to always obey traffic regulations to reduce the rate of accidents along  the high way especially during this yuletide period when there is mass movement of people
