House of Reps seat: Supreme Court Sacks Uwazurike

Chudi Uwazurike

Nigeria’s Supreme Court sacked Hon. Chudi Uwazurike, who has been occupying the House of Representatives seat for Okigwe South federal constituency of Imo state on Friday.
The   Nation’s apex court dismissed Uwazurike’s appeal which challenged the decisions of the lower courts that Hon. Austine Nwachukwu was the validly nominated candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the election.
Justice Walter Onoghene led five other Justices, dismissed Hon. Uwazurike’s appeal as lacking in merit and competence, describing the application as most frivolous which the court cannot entertain.
Counsel to the respondent, Mr. Kelvin Nwufo, said justice has been finally been served by the court when as it affirmed the judgment of the lower courts which upheld the nomination of Hon. Austine Nwachukwu as the validly nominated candidate of the People’s Democratic Party[PDP] through party primary election but was wrongfully substituted by the party with Uwazurike
