Protesting commercial motorcyclists on Friday again went on the rampage in Lagos, damaging a BRT bus and injuring scores of passengers on the bus.
The incident happened around 10.00 a.m. in Ketu area of the state, thereby creating confusion among residents and traders in the area.
The incident also caused traffic gridlock along the Ikorodu road as drivers parked their vehicles by the road side.
Saturday Tribune gathered that the attack on the BRT bus was the continuation of the protest against the introduced traffic law in the state.
A passenger of the bus, directly behind the driver of the damaged BRT bus, said that the bus took off from Agric bus stop, in Ikorodu, and was heading towards Maryland.
The passenger, who simply identified himself as Femi, said that the bus was ambushed by the okada riders, just as some hoodlums joined as they allegedly tried to take advantage of the situation to rob passengers.
The okada riders, armed with weapons, attacked the bus.
The windscreen and other glasses of the bus were shattered, while other parts of the bus were attacked by the hoodlums, who made no secret of their intention to wreck havoc.
The confusion that ensued from the attack on the bus left many of its passengers injured.
Saturday Tribune gathered that some passengers sustained injuries as they attempted to jump out of the the bus from the windows.
The timely intervention of anti-riot policemen from the Rapid Respond Squad and other police units saved the situation from degenerating.
