Second Republic senator and one time National Secretary of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN) Alhaji Uba Ahmed is dead. He was aged 73. He died on Monday 17th December 2012 at Diakonie Klinkum Stuttgart Hospital in Germany.
He of complications from diabetes according to family sources.
Born on the 28 of April 1939 ,Uba Ahmed was a product of the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
He was a trade unionist. In the Second Republic, he was elected into the Senate to represent then Bauchi State.He was an outspoken and active senator. He later became the National Secretary of the ruling National Party of Nigeria, NPN.
In 1994, Uba Ahmed was appointed Minister of Labour by former military leader General Sani Abacha. He was also a member of the National Political Reform Conference of 2005 during the regime of former president, Olusegun Obasanjo. He is survived by four children; Abubakar, Ghaddafi, Hajiya Rabi and Maimuna and six grand children.
