15 killed as petrol tanker collides with bus on Ogbomoso-Oyo road


FIFTEEN persons were reported dead in a multiple auto crash on Ogbomoso-Oyo-Ibadan road on Sunday.
The accident, according to an eyewitness, occurred when a fully loaded petrol tanker coming from Oyo/Ibadan end ran over an 18-seater commercial bus coming from Ilorin/Ogbomoso at a sharp bend on Odo- Oba village, five kilometers to Ogbomoso.
An eyewitnesses said the impact of the collision made the tanker to turn over, thus throwing off its petrol contents which exploded immediately.
The driver of the bus, the eyewitness added, lost control of the vehicle and, in the process, thrown the passengers out of the vehicle, leaving only three survivors.
But the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said only three people died in the accident.
As of the time of filing this report, men of the FRSC were having hectic time to control traffic on the route, while victims had been taken to Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso.
