Explosion reported at Tin Can Island Port

A ship that allegedly belongs to MRS Petroluem and believed to be carrying petroluem products has exploded and caught fire at the Tin Can Island port of Lagos today, Wednesday.

Confirming the incidence, official of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said a fuel tanker caught fire after exploding at the Tin Can Island port in Apapa area of Lagos.

The first set of firefighters that went in were brought out in stretcher after they had been badly burnt.Businesses in the area, particularly affected buildings, have  also closed shop to avoid causalities as fire fighters battle the fire.
