Gunmen kill two policemen in Kano

Unknown gunmen have killed two police officers and injured two civilians at a checkpoint around Kawo Tishama in Kano state, North West Nigeria.
Eyewitnesses said that attacks from tricyclists at about 4:30p.m occurred this afternoon, when they opened fire on police officers at the checkpoint around the area.
“When they opened fire, the police also engaged them in a fire fight, and in the process two police officers were shot dead.”
Another eyewitness confirmed that the two civilians who were injured were just passing by when the incident occurred.
“The civilians are those who use to sell water on wheelbarrow and we don’t actually know where they came from.”
Confirming the attack, the Police Public Relations Officer Magaji Musa Majiya said “Some people on a tricycle attacked a police checkpoint around Kawo Tishama where they shot dead two of our officers and injured two civilians who are in the hospital.”
The police spokesperson also disclosed that the suspects escaped with bullet wounds.
“We have already launched an investigation into the area because the suspects escaped with bullet wounds.”
Meanwhile the police called on residents around the area to report any person they see with gunshot or other related wound.
