Flagging off the distribution of cheques to the victims in the central senatorial zone of the state, Governor Muktar Ramalan Yero said the distribution of the cheques was to cushion the suffering of the victims in line with the recommendation of the judicial commission of inquiry into the crisis.
The sum of N401, 200,000 according to the governor was budgeted for distribution to the affected persons, churches and mosques.
He said that houses damaged during the crisis will receive the sum of N150,000 while the mosques and churches are to get sum of N100,000 each.
Kaduna state has witnessed about four major ethno-religious crises since 2000 to date, which led to the destruction of property, displaced many families and several peopled killed.
A total number of 2,502 houses, 151 churches and 41 mosques were affected in the post-election violence with over 500 lives lost.
