The African Nations Cup, AFCON kicked off on Saturday with the host, South Africa playing against Cape Verde. The match was not a joy to watch with the commentators tagging it a flagrant display by both sides. It ended a barren draw.
The other Group A members, Angola and Morocco kicked off few minutes later but theirs was of a more promising display even though it ended a barren draw too.
Sunday, the second match day recorded goals with former champions Ghana surrendering a two goal lead to The Democratic Republic of Congo. Mali played later against Niger and are the first team to record a win at AFCON 2013. This takes them atop Group B.
Group A : South Africa 0-0 Cape Verde
Angola 0-0 Morocco
Group B: Ghana 2-2 Congo
Mali 1-0 Niger
