A statement by Dr Reuben Abati, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, said the step was to further boost the morale of the Super Eagles.
The Super Eagles are to encounter their Group C mates, the Stallions of Burkina Faso, again, in the final match of the 29th edition of the AFCON.
According to the statement, other members of the delegation are Govs. Peter Obi of Anambra, and Isa Yuguda of Bauchi.
Also on the delegation are the Ministers of Police Affairs, Navy Capt. Caleb Olubolade (rtd); State, Foreign Affairs, Prof. Viola Onwuliri and Works, Bashir Yuguda.
Abati said the President, because of urgent official commitments in London and Paris, could not be present in Johannesburg to lead the cheering for the Super Eagles.
The President asked the delegation to reassure the team of his full support and best wishes for victory.
He charged the delegation to ensure that the members of the team were properly motivated and in the best spirit possible to get a resounding victory for the nation.
Jonathan said the delegation should also inform the team that he would host a reception dinner for them at the State House Banquet Hall at 7:00 p.m. on Feb. 12.
The President said he would personally thank and honour the team for their transformed performance in South Africa, which had re-established Nigeria as a major power in international football.
He charged the team to go out against Burkina Faso with the greatest determination to win a final victory that would bring immense joy and happiness to millions of Nigerians.
The President said Nigerians had their pride restored by the triumphs against Ethiopia, Cote D’Ivoire and Mali, and were praying for ultimate success at South Africa’s National Stadium.
