Bird flu crisis hits profits at KFC as China epidemic claims two more victims

The parent company of KFC said publicity surrounding a new strain of bird flu had caused a fall in sales in China.
Yum brands said in a regulatory filing that the Avian Flu cases have had a 'significant, negative impact' on the Kentucky-based company in the past week.
The outbreak has so far killed 10 and made a further 28 ill since it emerged in Shanghai two weeks ago.

The news come at a sensitive time for Yum, which has been working to rebuild trust with customers following a TV report that its suppliers were giving chickens unapproved levels of antibiotics.
That controversy has already sent sales plummeting for Yum, which is the biggest Western fast-food operator in China.

They should just make sure it stays in China and a solution found because it would be devastating in Nigeria for instance.
